Ram's Horn Shofars This beautiful horn is considered to be the classical Hebrew shofar mentioned throughout the Bible. Taken from a male sheep (ovis aries) of at least one year old, this shofar is said to symbolize the ram that was caught in the bushes and served as a substitute when Abraham was commanded to sacrifice his son Isaac. Our Ram's Horn Shofars come in a range of sizes and all have been selected for their exceptional quality. Our AA ashofars come from wild rams at least six years old. Our Ram's Horn Shofars are partially polished to retain the original horn texture at the wider end. ![]() Shofar: Ram's Horn D Small Price: USD$64.00 each, posted*. ![]() Shofar: Ram's Horn C Medium Price: USD$75.00 each, posted*. ![]() Shofar: Ram's Horn B Large Price: USD$139.00 each, posted*. ![]() Shofar: Ram's Horn A Extra Large Price: USD$219.00 each, posted*. ![]() Shofar: Ram's Horn AA Extra Extra Large Price: USD$399.00 each, posted*. Yemenite Kudu Shofars Made from the horn of an African kudu (Tragelaphus strepsicero) of the antelope family, these exquisitely polished Yemenite Shofars make a lasting impression. The Yemenite Shofar is typically much longer than the Ram's Horn Shofar and is considered easier to blow with a greater range of notes. Brought to Israel from Africa by Yemenite Jews, the kudu horn's deep sound is reminiscent of an echo coming from a mountain. Some believe the Yemenites preferred this strong echoing sound to remind themselves of the mountains, where Abraham was required to sacrifice a ram. Our Yemenite Shofars are available in three sizes and are fully polished. ![]() Shofar: Yeminite Small Shofar (Polished) Price: USD$172.00 each, posted*. ![]() Shofar: Yeminite Medium Shofar (Polished) Price: USD$249.00 each, posted*. ![]() Shofar: Yeminite Jumbo Shofar (Polished) Price: USD$399.00 each, posted*. Oryx Shofars These unique and delicate shofars come from the South African Oryx (oryx gazella), also of the antelope family. Almost like a flute, they are long and narrow and look stunning with their dark brown-black hue. The tips of the horns are removed, and there is no need to drill a hole in the horn, thus making shofar production easier. Jews in Yemen often decorated these shofars with precious stones. Our Oryx Shofars are fully polished and specially chosen for their distinctive beauty. ![]() Shofar: Oryx (Polished) Price: USD$179.00 each, posted*.
