Developing Intimacy

Posted on 23 May, 2016 by David Stanfield

The more you develop your intimacy with the Lord, the more clearly you will hear His quiet whispered instructions. This applies to all areas of your life and will flow over into worship, warfare and ministry with banners.

The banners are not much in themselves. It is only as they are activated in accordance with the Lord’s will that they become powerful weapons for worship, warfare and ministry.

Develop your intimacy with God - learn to discern His voice. You will need to know when it is the Lord speaking, when it might be your own thoughts, when it might be the influence of others and even when it might be the enemy trying to speak to you.

The more you know people and spend time with them, the more you recognise their voices and understand their intentions. It is the same with the Lord. When there are a lot of voices speaking to you and some of them seem contradictory, push back into your intimacy with the Lord and listen to Him. Then rest with what He is saying.

Your life is a testimony; you will be known by your fruit. Are you loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle and self-controlled? Develop the fruit of the Spirit in your life and character. Those around you, including the leaders in the spheres in which you move, will notice. Intimacy with the Lord is crucial for effective banner use.

Banners in the Bible

John 3:14-16
Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
